What to Expect at Your First Visit

Starting acupuncture can feel unfamiliar. Our goal is to make your experience clear, comfortable, and personalized from the moment you arrive. Your visit is structured to be thorough, efficient, and respectful of your time.

Arrival & Brief Paperwork

Your first visit will take approximately one hour. When you arrive, you will complete a short intake form covering your health history, current concerns, medications, and goals for care. This helps Dr. JiMong understand the full picture of your health before making recommendations.

Consultation with Dr. JiMong

You will meet one-on-one with Dr. JiMong to review your concerns in detail. Your consultation time is focused and intentional, allowing him to assess your condition thoroughly. He will ask questions about your symptoms, lifestyle, stress levels, sleep patterns, digestion, and overall health history. This comprehensive approach allows him to identify patterns that may not have been addressed previously. Many patients come to us after trying other approaches without lasting success. This consultation is designed to look deeper and identify the root cause of your condition. At the end of your consultation, Dr. JiMong will outline a clear treatment recommendation tailored to your needs. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and ensure you feel comfortable with the plan before moving forward.

Beginning Treatment

In most cases, patients begin acupuncture during their first visit following the consultation. Acupuncture sessions are relaxing and last approximately 20-30 minutes. Most patients rest comfortably while the treatment is performed. If herbal medicine or cupping therapy is recommended, those details will be discussed before beginning.

What Acupuncture Feels Like

Many patients are surprised by how gentle acupuncture feels. The needles used are very thin—much finer than those used for injections. You may feel a mild sensation as the needle is placed, followed by a sense of warmth, heaviness, or relaxation in the area. It is common to feel deeply relaxed during treatment, and some patients even fall asleep.

What to Expect at Follow-Up Visits

Follow-up visits are typically shorter and focused on progress. Dr. JiMong will briefly review how you responded to your previous treatment, make any necessary adjustments, and proceed with acupuncture. These visits are designed to build momentum while keeping your schedule in mind.

After Your Visit

Before you leave, you will receive guidance on the recommended frequency of treatments and any next steps in your care plan.

If a treatment series is recommended, we will help you schedule appointments in advance to maintain consistency and progress.

You are always encouraged to ask questions so you feel confident in your plan. If at any point you need clarification or additional discussion, our team is here to support you.
